Daylight hours and productivity

For at least 12 months, I have had this routine of staying up late in the night working on this blog and gaming, and then, with no reason to wake up (see the post on how I lost my purpose), sleep a lot and wake up very late in the next day.

1. Your body;
2. Your mind.

Abusing your body usually results in pretty nasty health problems when its youth starts wearing off.

Abusing your mind on the other hand, through constant thinking and study, has very pleasant results in time. You won’t be one of those using the “I’m old, my memory isn’t as good” excuse at 65. You won’t forget why you’re holding a toothbrush in your hand, or that your birthday is five months from today. No memory loss at old age sounds too good to be true? Read on. Good posture.Most of us spend significant amounts of time sitting at a desk. And while you may have an ergonomic chair or desk or whatever, your posture can still be sloppy. And you wouldn’t want to experience the “benefits” of a sloppy posture. Some of those are a stiff neck, hunched shoulders, weak back muscles and restricted breathing. Not good for you.

What to eat before traveling is another simple question, but one with a lot of potential bad answers. If you’re in an airplane, you won’t feel too comfortable if what you ate before boarding was cabbage, baked beans or any other food that produces gases. Their effects aren’t really that

pleasant on land, but they gets worse at altitude because air expands in your stomach and digestive tract up to 30 per cent. And it gets worse if you had a carbonated drink to go with that food.

What you want to eat when traveling, whether by plane or by car, is a low-calorie food that travels well. You’ll be sitting for hours so you won’t need a lot of calories. Also, the immobility of sitting in a train (or plane, coach or car) for more than four hours slows down the blood flow making it more prone to clotting. Read the rest of this entry »
