Johnny Concepcion stabs his wife to death, confesses to friends and relatives that he killed her, runs from the cops, tries to kill himself by swallowing rat poison, gets taken to the hospital with a failed liver and receives a liver transplant.
Wait, what? A suicidal self-confessed murderer got to the top of the liver transplant waiting list (which numbered 16,003), while someone who committed no crime has probably died for lack of one? That’s right. Because we all know murderers provide immense value to society, we can’t just let them kill themselves.
And that is how to get to the top of a liver transplant waiting list (under the current distribution system).
If you ask me, it’s f**ed up that he got top priority for the transplant, but you are free to disagree. Let’s just hope he won’t try to kill himself in prison.
