Return of the Jedi | Sunday rambling
“Yes, a Jedi’s strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side.” - Yoda
If you’ve been reading Project Armannd for a while, then you may have noticed that in the last period of time I got a bit lazy. I think they call it lazy blogging.
I got lazy, I lost my motivation, I forgot my goals, I forgot the imense pleasure of blogging, I even contemplated quitting… I lost almost everything that made blogging a fun activity.
How did I manage to drag myself down? Well, it’s really simple: I threw away the key.
In the past couple of days I’ve been trying really hard to figure out what exactly happened that derailed me so badly. Among some minor things, this one reason stood out:
- I stopped reading blogs on blogging. Quality blogs such as John Chow and Problogger (many thanks to you guys for doing what you do!) were no longer on my daily reading list.
You may wonder “how could such a small detail derail you?”
Reading blogs that talked about blogging (especially John’s blog) was the key that got me into this activity. I probably would never have started this blog if it wasn’t for the insane amounts of motivation that they provided. And the fact that I stopped reading them made me lose that key.
To better understand what I’m talking about: the “key” is the motivation to push forward through the wasteland that an unestablished blog represents.
In a nutshell, the whole problem was that I gave up my motivation pills to early. Waaay too early.
If you, like me, ever feel that blogging is no longer fun and fulfilling, you need to retrace your steps to the days when it was. What things you were doing back then that you’re not doing now? Find out what those things are and test them, one by one, to see exactly which one is responsible for the change. After you’ve rediscovered your key, integrate it withing your life. If you’ll do it properly, blogging should be fun again!
My case, and the general case of losing the “key,” is a happy case. It means that the natural pleasure exists, only that it needs a trigger to be activated.
Now that I’ve found what was missing from the equation and fixed it, the Jedi is back! Higher quality is on the horizon.

Welcome back Jedi! Heh…I know how you feel…it’s normal to lose motivation once in a while, but if you rediscover why you started blogging in the first place, it’ll come back!

Hi Albert! It’s good to be back!
It is normal indeed. Especially when doing something for six months without any breaks.
