Subconscious biases
The human subconscious is a scary place, full of ideas that many of us attempt to suppress and ignore.
Sometimes bits and pieces of the ideas can emerge at the most inopportune times.
Studies show people can be consciously committed to egalitarianism, and deliberately work to behave without prejudice, yet still possess hidden negative prejudices or stereotypes.
So even though we believe we see and treat people as equals, hidden biases influence our perceptions and actions.
Psychologists at Harvard, the University of Virginia and the University of Washington created “Project Implicit” to develop Hidden Bias Tests — called Implicit Association Tests, or IATs, in the academic world — to measure unconscious bias.
Want to find out what’s lingering in your psyche? Take a Implicit Association Test. The test takes less than five minutes to complete and the results can be an eye-opening experience.

Hi Armand, I hope I don’t have that “hidden bias” or do we all have it one way or another? Well, hopefully it does not border on the negative side. Cheers!
Hey Mark,
We all have hidden biases. If you’re human, you have them, they’re created by the subconscious.
I don’t think they can be catalogued as general “good” or “bad” biases, because it’s the circumstances that make them so. What you should do is get to know yourself better, and thus get to know more about your hidden biases.
Hope this was helpful!
