Readers Day | What would you attempt?

fear-of-failure.jpgOne of the greatest forces that stops you from achieving your true potential is the fear of failure. The fear of failure is related to the fear of criticism and fear of rejection.

One of the main differences between successful and unsuccessful people is that the successful people fight and overcome their fear of failure. Unsuccessful people are incapacitated by it.

There is one important law that the successful people know about and follow, and that is the Law of Feedback.

The Law of Feedback: there is no failure; there is only feedback.

Today’s question is closely related to the fear of failure.

It requires you to look deep within yourself and analyze the things that make you happy and bring you satisfactions.

What would you attempt to do
if you knew you could not fail?

Take your time to answer this one, because the answer is very valuable - to you. If the answer comes from inside of you, from your heart, and you feel like you are meant to do that thing and it could represent you, then don’t be afraid of failure and start working towards it. Remember the Law of Feedback: there is no failure; there is only feedback. What reason do you have to be afraid of feedback? Everyone wants to receive feedback!

Having this fresh perspective, look deep within and think of what would you like to attempt if “failure” wouldn’t exist in this universe.

  1. Well put and an excellent call to action. Dealing with the fear of failure is vital for anyone who is looking to improve their life. Often, the fear of failure becomes so overpowering that it actually turns into a fear of success as well, leaving perfectly capable people completely paralyzed.

  2. The main purpose of that question (and of the post) is to get people to think about WHERE they want to get and forget about their fears. Because with the fear of failure all over them, a lot of people actually don’t dare to dream about a destination anymore. They are afraid to *think* of it - imagine that - and so they are paralyzed and slowly spiraling downwards. How can you reach a certain destination if you’re too scared and don’t make the decision to get there?
If you are at work and you want to get home, you have to make the decision to go home in spite of the dangers that it involves (you could get hit by a car, or shot, or have an accident, etc). There are many dangers in going home from your workplace. But by making the decision to go home and acting on it in spite of all those negative possible outcomes, you *get* home, you get to your destination.
Now imagine the same scenario, but with a paralyzing fear. If you’re at work and you want to go home but you’re too afraid because you think that you’re gonna have a car accident, or that you’re gonna fall on the stairs, or that the elevator is gonna break down… are you getting home in this scenario? No, you won’t. And what’s worse, that fear will occupy so much of your mind that eventually you may actually forget where you wanted to go and how to get there.

There are dangers associated with everything, but if one’s too afraid of living on the edge and taking risks, then he’s not living. If someone isn’t living on the edge, he or she are just taking up the space.

That’s what this question accomplishes. It builds a new frame in which one is free from all the dangers and can *think* without fear about his (or her’s) deepest desire. Having that deep dream in mind makes the fears back down a bit, and this can lead to actually putting that one idea to use in the real world.
